Stallion Service Report

A stallion service report form must be completed and submitted to the American Hanoverian Society office by October 31st of each breeding season for all resulting foals to be eligible for registration.

An original stallion service report must be on file with the American Hanoverian Society before eligible foals may be considered for registration. The stallion service report must:
a. Contain the registered names and registration numbers of all mares bred.
b. Indicate the registered breed of the mare.(See list on the instructions sheet for abbreviations)
c. Include all dates of service or shipment of semen for the mare.
d. The type of semen fresh or frozen.
e. The complete name and address of the mare's owner.
f. Include the signature and date for the recorded owner of the stallion or it's authorized agent

Premium Eligible Mare Upgrade Through Sport Request Form

Mares may be evaluated through their successful performance in sport, namely dressage, jumping, eventing, or show hunters as set forth below:

  •  In dressage, a mare must receive three (3) scores of at least 60% at Second Level, Test 3, or above, by three (3) different judges at USEF or Equine Canada recognized shows, or
  • In jumping, a mare must place in the top six (6) at 1.15m, or above, in at least three competitions at USEF “A” rated or Equine Canada class “1” shows, or
  • In eventing, a mare must either: i) place in the top five (5) at least five times at Modified Level, or above; or ii) complete at least five (5) horse trials at Preliminary Level, or above, without jump penalties (not to include time penalties), or 10 of 15
  • In show hunters, a mare must place in the top three (3) in an over-fences class of 10 or more entries, or in the top six (6) in an over-fences class of 20 or more entries, in any rated division jumping 3’6”, or above, at five (5) different USEF “A” rated shows or Equine Canada class “1” shows.

Competition Mare Request Form

A Hanoverian Mare receives her “Competition Mare” title when she achieves the following record in sport in either dressage, jumping, eventing, or show hunters as set forth below:

  • In dressage, a mare must place in the top five, five times, with scores of at least 63% at Fourth Level, or above, by three different judges at USEF or Equine Canada recognized shows, or
  • In jumping, a mare must place in the top five, five times, at 1.3m, or above, in either:  i) classes with at least fifteen horses, or ii) with clear rounds, at USEF “A” rated or Equine Canada class “1” shows, or
  • In eventing, a mare must:  i) finish in the top five, at least once at FEI licensed competitions at CCI*3 Long or Short, or higher; and ii) complete, without cross country jumping penalties, two or more other competitions at the same level or higher, or otherwise at USEF licensed intermediate horse trials, or
  • In show hunters, a mare must either:  1) place in the top five, five times in Hunter Derby classes jumping 3’6”, or above, and having prize money of $10,000 or more; or 2) finish as champion five times in a rated hunter division having six or more entries, including at least three over fences classes, and jumping 3’6” or above, in either case at USEF “A” rated shows or Equine Canada class “1” shows.

Microchip Request Form

Microchips are included with foal registration kits for horses that are currently being registered.

This form is to be used only if you have lost the original microchip that was sent and need a replacement or you are microchipping an older horse that was not previously chipped.

Inner Bay LLC Perpetual Jumper Trophy

2021 will mark the inaugural year of this award which is presented to the Hanoverian with the highest score in the Jumper division. The winner receives a keeper plaque and a beautiful ribbon.


Neil and Mary O'Connor of Inner Bay LLC have committed to sponsoring this award for at least 3 years. They breed jumpers at their farm in Virginia and Mary has been active in the AHS and the MAHB, showing young horses in the Futurity, and having her mares and foals approved. They want to recognize and reward the top placing Jumper (in the USEF divisions) from our yearly Jumper winners.

Mission Statement and Goals

Mission Statement

To promote and support breeders, riders, owners, enthusiasts/fans of the Hanoverian and Rhineland horse in the U.S. We provide guidance, education, registration, and awards for our members.

Top Four Short-term Goals (August 2019)

These are the goals the board members chose to work on over the next 12-18 months. Many of these topics may lead to long term goals, but will begin as short-term strategies that grow into longer term efforts.

  1. Improve technology by updating and implementing VIT and the website.
  2. Automate registration application.
  • Reorganize/simplify procedures including egistration from members and office standpoint, improve inspection process with technology.
    • Simplify markings process for egistration.
      • Develop standard descriptions for markings.
  • Increase market share of competitors, foal registrations, and number of inspected mares.
    • Increase AHS presence regionally.
      • Enhance collaboration and communication with show
        secretaries.
    • Reactivate the awards program on the regional level.
  • Improve marketing and promotion of the Hanoverian horse.
    • Inventory and evaluate previous AHS marketing efforts and their measure of success.
    • Determine current AHS advertising opportunities that exist for outside advertisers. (e.g. AHS magazine, AHS website, AHS Facebook page, etc.)
    • Differentiate AHS from other warmblood registries in a positive manner.
    • Establish a timely and consistent e-newsletter.
    • Expand AHS social media presence and reach.
