The Hanoverian breed lost one of its star stallions with the passing of Wellesley PF and his owner, Ryan Pedigo of Pedigo Farms and Ryan Pedigo Hanoverians, lost a prized member of his family of Hanoverians.
Wellesley passed away peacefully at his home at Pedigo Farms in Riverside California.
Wellesley was bred by top Hanoverian breeder William Mulholland, by Mr. Mulholland's brilliant stallion World Cup IV out of SPS Esplanade. Wellesley possessed his father's beautiful temperament and power as well as his mother's exceptional conformation and lightness of movement, and he has passed these attributes on to his own offspring.
To say that Wellesley will be missed is a tremendous understatement. He is loved and respected for the wonderful offspring he has produced. Ryan Pedigo has campaigned such fabulous Champion hunters as Wolfe WF, Waltzing Mathilda PF, and Wycliffe PF, as well as breeding many foals by Wellesley who are of outstanding quality and athleticism. We anticipate that these foals will join Wellesley's other offspring to become champions in their own right during their show careers.
Truly, one of Wellesley's largest impacts may be as a broodmare sire. His many daughters and granddaughters are producing exceptional foals by a variety of other stallions and they will surely bring more fame to this very deserving stallion. His legacy is firmly established.
Wellesley's passing has left a void in our hearts, but we are fortunate to have so many of his offspring to continue his heritage and his memory. Frozen semen is still available to a select group of Elite mares.—Ryan Pedigo
