Types of Membership
The American Hanoverian Society offers several forms of membership. All memberships are calendar year.
Active Membership
Required for members participating in the AHS breeding program (i.e., registering a foal, presenting horses for inspection and/or performance testing, or standing a stallion). Active/Regular members are eligible for AHS awards, may hold office, serve on committees and vote. They receive the AHS Stallion Directory.
Associate Membership
Members who are not participating in the AHS breeding program but are eligible for AHS awards. Associate members may not hold office, serve on committees or vote.
Junior Membership
Members under the age of 21 (as of the date of payment) not participating in the AHS breeding program. Junior members are eligible for AHS awards, but may not hold office, serve on committees or vote. A Junior membership expires at the end of the calendar year in which the member reaches the age of 21.
Life Membership
Members have full AHS benefits as listed under the Active membership category. They elect to pay a fee ten times the Active member rate. A Lifetime membership may not be an entity and may not be shared between individuals.
FORMS OF RECORDED OWNERSHIP
The American Hanoverian Society recognizes several forms of recorded ownership:
- Individual
- Joint (two related individuals)
- Partnership (two or more unrelated individuals)
- Corporate (farm or business).
Consider the form of ownership that best applies to your situation at the time of recording, and make your application for membership exactly as you wish it to appear on the horse’s papers.
BYLAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS
BY BECOMING A MEMBER OR RENEWING MEMBERSHIP IN THE AMERICAN HANOVERIAN SOCIETY, THE MEMBER AGREES TO ADHERE TO THE BYLAWS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS OF THE SOCIETY AND ALL AMENDMENTS.
