AHS Yearling and Two-Year-Old Futurity
$3000 Awarded Annually
Bring your young horse to your local AHS Inspection!
Since 2012, the American Hanoverian Society has been proud to offer a National Futurity Program. Each year, at every inspection held in the US, we offer classes specifically for young horses. The Futurity is open to AHS-registered, HV-registered, & AHS Certificate of Pedigree horses in their yearling & two-year old years.
The Futurity classes are a great learning experience for all young horses and a way to educate yourself about what you can expect with your young horse. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to support the breeder of your youngster or to promote your own breeding program! You will also learn from the AHS judges what they see for potential in your youngster and to expose your youngster to travel, a new environment, and in-hand showing.
Each horse is judged using a scale from 1-10 in each of eight categories – Head/Neck, Topline, Type, Front Legs, Hind Legs, Correctness, Walk (x2), and Trot (x2). The maximum points possible are 100. Horses will be shown on the triangle; yearlings will be shown in a halter, two-year olds will be shown in a bridle. They may not be turned loose, but a second round is permitted if needed.
Each Inspection Site offers Futurity Classes making these classes accessible to Hanoverian owners throughout the country. The top two high-scoring participants from each of the four possible classes receive ribbons at each inspection site. Certificates are sent from the AHS office to all participants.
Scores are ranked from every Futurity Class throughout the tour and Year-End Awards are also given. The year-end ranking is listed on the AHS Website with Champions and Reserve Champions noted as well as the owner, sire, and dam sire. $3000 is awarded annually and is split between the Top Five Yearlings and Top Five Two-Year Olds in the country.
Consider joining us with your Yearling or Two-Year Old Hanoverian during the next inspection tour!
