Dr. L. Wendell Haymon Memorial Trophy

The Board of Directors of the American Hanoverian Society updated the eligibility requirements for the Dr. L. Wendell Haymon Memorial Award. This award is given yearly to current Active, Associate, and Lifetime AHS members owning a registered Hanoverian stallion or mare (geldings aren't eligible) that was conceived and born in the USA that competed at the highest level in sport, who may have the opportunity to impact the future of the Hanoverian breed.

Winners of this honorable trophy have competed in Open or CDI Dressage competitions at Grand Prix in 2024 and thereafter. The winner will be determined based on the USDF Horse of the Year standings, and open to all adult riders in the Open and AA classes who meet all the eligibility criteria listed above.

The winner will be awarded an embroidered cooler as a keepsake. Additionally, a plaque with the horse's name, owner's name, and breeder's name, and the year awarded, will be placed on the trophy's base. The trophy will proudly be displayed in the American Hanoverian Society office in Lexington, Kentucky.

In honor of Dr. Haymon's many contributions, Don and Dee Kapper have generously sponsored this perpetual trophy in his name.
