The name of a horse cannot be changed after the horse has been inspected and entered into the AHS breeding program. The new name must begin with the same letter as the previous name. It cannot exceed 20 letters including spaces and punctuation. The name cannot be used if it has already been used by another horse in the AHS database, however, you may use name or farm initials or numbers after the name. Contact Christy at and she will check to see if the name is available.
Please Note: For US bred horses, to receive a new set of registration papes, the original registration papers must be sent to the AHS Office at: American Hanoverian Society 4047 Iron Works Parkway Suite 103 Lexington, KY 40511, along with a copy of the confirmation email you receive after submitting the Name Change Request form. For security reasons, it is suggested that you send the papers via a trackable method (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) For horses bred outside the US, you will receive a sticker from the AHS office with the new name that is to be placed on the first page in the horses passport. You don't send the passport to the AHS office.
