Zaunkonig offers breeders the best of proven bloodlines for talent and trainability. His sire,
Blue Hors Zack, was an exceptional competitor with top placings at World Cup Finals, European
Championships, Nations Cup competitions, and even the Tokyo Olympics, where he was the highest
placed breeding stallion. His offspring show his talent for sport with horses such as Olympic Team
Medalist, Blue Hors Zepter, and three-time World Young Horse Champion, Sezuan. Due to the success
of his offspring, Zack currently stands third on the WBFSH Dressage Sire rankings. Zaunkonig’s dam,
Deesse, is by the legendary Hanoverian stallion, De Niro, who was Reserve Champion of his Stallion
Performance Test and winner of the dressage phase. He made his Grand Prix debut at age of 7 and,
by age 9, was winning internationally at Grand Prix. With more than 100 licensed sons, World Young
Horse Champions, and World Equestrian Games, European Championship and Olympic Games
medalists to his credit, De Niro’s production record is unmatched. Further back in Zaunkonig’s
pedigree is Florestan I, winner of his stallion licensing and Stallion Performance Test. Zaunkonig
shows great talent for dressage and, while still young, has an impressive performance record. He
was a Silver Medalist at the Bundeschampionate as a 4-year-old and, after being imported to the
US, won the FEI 6-Year-Old National Championship under the guidance of Adrienne Lyle who praises
the stallion for his three superb gaits and exceptional work ethic. Zaunkonig is available to North
American breeders for the first time in 2026.
