It’s rare we see a pedigree as star studded as Nalegro’s! Nalegro is sired by Olympic Games, World
Equestrian Games and World Cup competitor, Painted Black, who was a standout at the FEI levels
with a lengthy career at Grand Prix, including 27 career wins in FEI competition under two different
riders. Painted Black has proven himself in breeding, with 16 approved sons and a number of Grand
Prix offspring. Painted Black is by the influential stallion, Gribaldi, who has produced numerous
FEI horses and notable sires, Totilas and Hofrat. Nalegro’s dam is a full sibling to Valegro, the
Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games and World Cup Champion. This same mareline includes
the licensed stallions, U-Genius and Ilegro. Nalegro’s damsire is the preferent stallion Negro, an
impressive FEI competitor himself and a proven sire of FEI Grand Prix horses. Nalegro completed the
KWPN Stallion Performance Test in 2021, where he finished as Reserve Champion overall. Nalegro’s
canter was a highlight, earning an impressive score of 9.0, and Nalegro earned no score less than
8.0, with scores of 8.5 for walk, trot, rideability, and talent as a dressage horse. Nalegro convincingly
won the 2024 KWPN Stallion Competition Finals for 6-Year-Olds with a 10-point lead and scores
of 9.0 for trot, canter, harmony, and general impression. In 2025, he easily transitioned from the
young horse classes to the FEI ring with a successful debut at Prix St. Georges/Intermediare I. For
performance-focused breeders, this young stallion has to be a standout.
