Annual submission of the AHS Performance Awards Application for Hunters, Hunter Breeding and Eventing horses is required for the awards committee to correctly track the points of eligible horses in these categories in order to determine year-end awards winners. The form lists the divisions the horse is expected to be competing in as well as the AHS recorded name and registration number, horse and owner USEF and USEA numbers, and show name (if different since many horses in these divisions do not show under their papered names). Without this information your Hanoverian's show results cannot be located in the USEF's long and extensive lists and eligibility for the extensive AHS Year-End Awards program will be lost. For a complete listing of eligibility requirements for the AHS Annual Awards Program, please download the AHS Awards Eligibility Charts.
The AHS Performance Awards Application is included with your yearly membership renewal, and is also available on the AHS website for easy downloading. If you have not submitted a form for each individual horse competing in these divisions in 2011, please take a moment now to download and print copies from the link provided and return the completed applications before the September 30th deadline. The awards committee would like to be able to find and reward all of our members who are out there showing in Hunters, Jumpers and Eventing - give us a hand by using our Performance Awards Application! Form are available for download at https://www.hanoverian.org/ahs_media/downloads/forms/PerformanceAwardsForm.pdf.
As the Awards Committee reviewed these lists in 2010, we noted a few things for the members who show in these divisions:
DRESSAGE and SPORT HORSE BREEDING participants are NOT required to submit the Performance Awards Application.
By AHS guidelines, horses showing in Hunter and Jumper divisions must be recorded with USEF – either with a lifetime registration or annually in order to be eligible for the Hunter and Jumper Awards. Only lifetime or annually recorded horses will show up on the USEF Year-End Awards lists. An HID (Horse Identification Number) is NOT sufficient. Sadly, in previous years several of our members who would have done well in our year-end awards standings could not be placed because they had not recorded their horses with USEF. We hope these owners will do that recording before the next competition year so we can 1) find your horses' show records with USEF and 2) so they will be eligible for our awards!
Also we noticed that several members who have AHS horses in our awards lists also have other Hanoverians, most likely imported horses, which they have not transferred to our registry. Until these imported horses have been officially transferred to the AHS registry, we cannot recognize them for our awards. This is a one-time process, for a small fee, that is easily and quickly completed by submitting the German HV to AHS Conversion Form with the AHS Central Office staff. It does not change any of your papers/passport from Germany – the horse is just added to our registry since they now reside in the U.S.! We encourage all of our members who have imported Hanoverians to contact the office and get them transferred so we can look for them in our awards lists as well!
Please contact the AHS central office at (859) 255-4141 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with any additional questions.
