AHS Breeder Mentor Program
The Inspection Tour process can seem overwhelming to someone who has never been through it before. The AHS wants to make new Hanoverian breeders feel welcome, and make this first contact with the Society as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
The New Breeder Mentor Program was developed for the purpose of offering personal, one-on-one assistance to anyone new to the Hanoverian inspection process. Those who would benefit from this program would be new breeders, or a breeder attending their first Hanoverian inspection with a mare or foal. Mentors can give advice on foal presentation, mare studbook inspection, the Mare Performance Test, and preparing your mare for the jump-chute.
The program draws upon the knowledge of eight experienced AHS members who have agreed to participate. These volunteer mentors will reach out in a friendly, low-key way to assist with any questions regarding procedures and preparations for the inspection tours. In general, new breeders can expect a phone call from someone who cares, and who will strive to make them comfortable with the inspection process.
- There is a check box located on the Inspection Enrollment Form that when checked will place the breeder’s name on the contact list.
- Site Hosts that have identified a new breeder may pass the contact information to the program coordinator.
- Stallion owners who have bred their stallions to Hanoverian-eligible mares may contact the coordinator with mareowner contact information.
- A new breeder may contact the coordinator directly to request Mentor assistance.
- Distribution of letters.
